Lost Town 2009
Plot Synopsis
The director spent five years to follow the story of two young architects. Anne and Johannes unexpectedly won an important architecture competition. They want to bring back the memory of a submerged town off the east coast of England. Their goal is to create a landmark: steel pillars which are supposed to represent the silhouette of the long lost church of Dunwich. In a fascinating way the pillars would be able to tell the story of the long lost village, and the wind and waves would be able to move freely through them creating an arena for the grand spectacle of nature.
But how do Anne and Johannes realise a project that is worth several million pounds? Did they risk too much or will they be able to convince all doubters of their plans? Long and adventurous obstacles lie in front of these two Munich architects: feasibility studies, acquisition of sponsors, discussions with local politicians and public discussion with the local population.
